The Vision

I’ve been privileged to call Charlotte home for almost four decades. Over the years, I’ve watched this sleepy Southern city and region blossom into an internationally-respected, economic powerhouse. We achieved this status under the dedicated, visionary leadership of many business, community and political leaders. Charlotte has always been a caring, nurturing and culturally rich community that was willing to face adversity head-on. That resolve has grown stronger over the years.

It’s an exciting time to live in Charlotte. The “can do” spirit of local business and community leaders has, over the years, instilled in me the educational equivalent of a “Leadership 101″ class. In each instance, these individuals dedicated themselves to making this community the best it could be. They envisioned a city that was culturally textured, progressive and positioned for corporate success. They did not want Charlotte to simply be the next “hot” fad city. Rather, they wanted it to be a place where people would come to raise their families.

I believe that Charlotte’s future must be built upon the same foundation of morals and values that our past leaders established. As a Charlotte City Council member, I will work tirelessly on behalf of this city and its citizens. It’s our job to establish communities where people from all walks of life can live, work and play  all while feeling safe and secure.

To accomplish this we must:

1. Strengthen and preserve our neighborhoods
2. Support efforts to create new jobs and promote job retention
3. Improve the quality of life for all of our citizens by promoting public safety, improved air quality, accessible and amenable transportation options, better conditions for the elderly and other strong, community-minded initiatives
